Orco 74 Loom
$1,495.00
A 4-harness, 6-treadle counterbalance loom
Made in our shop in Kalamazoo out of beautiful ash wood. The wood is crafted by a Mennonite carpenter who has made these looms for 50 years
Use this loom to make beautiful handmade rugs like your grandmother made on the old Union loom back in the “old days.” The Orco 74 loom is modeled after the old Union loom, but this goes one better having 4 harnesses so you can weave patterns.
You can make a firmer and heavier rug than on a 2-harness loom as the 4-harness weaves make for a tighter packed rug.
Heavy wood construction – diagonal braced leg design – finished with 1 coat of varnish on natural wood, solid ash (a beautiful heavy wood that appears much like oak) construction. Rug beam is pine with a loom apron attached.
Sectional beam holds 75 yarns of warp in 2-inch sections.
Harness frames have steel sides and are equipped with 500 twisted wire heddles. Frames are hung with steel aircraft cable using 6 pulleys. Treadles tied up with steel chain and threaded hooks for adjustment.
Reed: Carbon steel in 10 or 12 dent
Includes 2 shuttles, threading hook and a thread guide (loom comb).
A spool rack can be built on loom (additional charge).
Dimensions: 44″ wide x 41″ front to back x 33″ high to working level.
Price: $1150.00 unwarped, or warped with full 40 yards is $1210.00 plus the cost of the warp
